About Orford Quay
It's a working quay, which matters - this isn't a museum piece. Fishermen still land their catch here, there's a proper functioning boatyard, and the whole scene has that unglamorous authenticity that separates the genuine article from the Heritage Centre version. The riverside pubs and seafood restaurants are genuinely good, not tourist-trap good. Sit with a pint or a crab sandwich and watch the light change across the water.
Walkers and photographers are the obvious winners here, though history types will get their fill from the medieval castle towering behind the quay. It's easily managed in an hour or so if you're just passing through, though you might not want to leave. Free to wander around, obviously. The real cost is whatever you spend eating well on excellent seafood.
Staying nearby makes sense - Wantisden Park and Run Cottage Touring Park are both close enough for an easy morning visit before heading out exploring the rest of Suffolk. Woodbridge is just a few miles away if you need proper shops or backup entertainment when the weather turns.
