Oat Hill

The walk up Oat Hill from Broadway is a proper leg-burner, but the Cotswolds reward you for the effort. This modest peak sits at around 300 metres, which doesn't sound like much until you're actually climbing it - the gradient is no joke, especially in summer heat. You get proper views across the Vale of Evesham from the top, with the Malverns visible on a clear day. The hill itself is less of a dramatic summit and more of a steady slog through farmland and woodland paths, but that's rather the point. It's the kind of walk locals do on a Sunday morning, not some Instagram-bait rock formation.

This one's for walkers who don't mind a solid two to three hours out and back, or families with kids who've got proper legs on them - little ones will find it tedious. The nearest settlement is Broadway, which is all honey-coloured stone cottages and slightly too many gift shops, but it's the natural base if you're tackling Oat Hill. Free to access, obviously; it's open country.

If you're using one of the caravan parks nearby - Broadway's own club site is barely three miles away, or you could base yourself at Leedons if you prefer somewhere slightly more structured - Oat Hill works as a half-day adventure between bigger Cotswolds attractions. It won't blow your mind, but it's genuine countryside walking without the tourist crowds. Go early to beat the heat and the farm traffic.
