The Northumberland County Show rolls into Stocksfield once a year, and if you've never been to one of these agricultural dos, you're missing a proper slice of rural England. It's the sort of event where farmers show off their prize cattle, local craftspeople flog their wares, and the trade stands stretch for what feels like miles.

You'll spend a good four to five hours here without rushing. There's livestock competitions, heavy horse displays, falconry, and usually a decent showing of vintage tractors that will absolutely grip kids for longer than you'd expect. Parking can be a bit of a faff on busy days, but the show's well-organised overall.

It's brilliant for families with children old enough to walk around and take genuine interest in the animals - under-fives will get bored after the first hour unless you're pushing them in a buggy.
