Northfield Plantation

The woodland at Northfield Plantation is a proper breath of fresh air if you're staying around Hull or heading towards the coast. It's the sort of place where you can actually lose the crowds - nothing fancy, just decent stretches of trees and open paths that make you feel like you've stepped outside the urban sprawl.

There's nothing wildly dramatic about it, but that's rather the point. You get a solid walk through woodland without needing special equipment or a guide. Dog walkers and families wanting a gentle hour or two will find it worthwhile. The paths are manageable for most abilities, though it can get muddy depending on weather. Bring proper boots.

If you're based at one of the nearby parks - Little Otchan Glamping is just a couple of miles away, with Parkdean Resorts Withernsea Sands and Sand le Mere also close enough for an easy drive - Northfield makes a decent half-day diversion. It breaks up a holiday spent mostly on the coast or lounging in glamping tents. You won't need more than an hour or so to get a feel for it unless you're keen on proper woodland rambling.

Access appears to be free and unrestricted, though information online is a bit thin. That said, it's the kind of local spot that doesn't advertise heavily but works perfectly for what it is. Comes into its own on a quiet weekday rather than battling weekend crowds.
