It's not the sort of attraction that'll occupy a full afternoon, but if you're staying at one of the nearby campsites - Warren Hill Camp is closest at just two miles away - it's a solid couple of hours if you fancy a bit of house history. The rooms tell their own story, and the furnishings are genuine rather than reconstructed. Not flashy, but honest.

Timing-wise, you'll want a full hour inside the house itself, maybe another hour if you're dawdling through the gardens. It's best approached as a quiet interlude during a Ventnor-based holiday rather than a destination trip. The southern coast of the Isle of Wight offers plenty else - beaches, coastal walks, proper fish and chips - so Northcourt slots in nicely as a rainy afternoon option or when you need a break from the sea air.
