It's a members' club primarily, which means you'll need to arrange access in advance, either as a guest of a member or by ringing ahead to check day-rate availability. Expect to pay for the privilege, but the greens are well-maintained and the pace of play moves along decently.

Golfers are the obvious audience here. Families with a keen player will find this worth the trip; the course doesn't require single-figure handicaps to enjoy it. Non-golfers, however, won't find much to occupy them - it's not a destination club with restaurants or bars that welcome walk-ins. Allow three and a half to four hours for a round. The drive from Calne takes minutes.

If you're based at Mill Farm Glamping nearby, North Wilts makes a solid morning's activity before exploring the Cotswolds proper. Wiltshire's got proper golf heritage - Swindon's not far either if you want options. The club's surrounded by decent walking country, so you could pair a round with a ramble around the Avon Valley if you're making a proper day of it. Worth the detour if golf's your thing. If it isn't, skip it.
