North Cummings Wood

Dense canopy overhead filters the light into dappled patterns across the forest floor, making North Cummings Wood feel properly wild despite sitting just outside Narberth. This patch of woodland doesn't shout about itself - no visitor centre or marked trails - which is rather the point.

Families with energetic children will find plenty to explore among the moss-covered fallen logs and twisting paths that seem to lead everywhere and nowhere. Dog walkers rate it highly too, though keep leads handy as the wood borders farmland. The lack of formal facilities means it's free to wander, but also means you're on your own for navigation.

Bring proper walking boots - the ground stays damp well into summer, and some areas can get properly muddy after rain. An hour's ramble is usually enough unless you're keen on serious nature watching.
