Toch Wood

Ancient oak and ash trees tower overhead as you wander the well-worn paths through this peaceful woodland just outside Narberth. Toch Wood feels properly wild compared to some of Wales' more manicured forest walks - expect muddy boots and the occasional fallen branch blocking your way.

Families with older children will appreciate the freedom to explore without restrictions, though pushchair users should stick to the main track. The woodland changes character dramatically with the seasons. Spring brings a carpet of bluebells that's genuinely spectacular, while autumn turns the canopy into a proper artist's palette of golds and russets.

Dog walkers absolutely love this spot - it's one of those rare places where you can let well-behaved dogs off the lead without worry. The paths loop back on themselves, so getting properly lost is unlikely, though signage is pretty minimal.

Allow a good hour for a decent ramble, longer if you're in no hurry. The woods connect nicely with longer walks towards Canaston Bridge, making it ideal for stretching legs during a stay at nearby Bluestone Resort or any of the camping spots around Narberth. Free parking appears to be available at the entrance, though it's nothing fancy - just a grassy verge really.
