The lake itself is the main draw: a mile-long stretch of water flanked by woodland that's genuinely lovely for walking, with paths that take you right round the perimeter. You get good views from various points, particularly where the dam itself creates that neat engineered landscape.

Walkers will find the most to do here. The circuit is manageable - not strenuous, just peaceful - and you'll spot ducks, geese and the occasional heron if you're quiet. There's a small visitor area with basic amenities and a café for when you need tea. Families with younger kids might do the walk once and call it done, but if you're the sort who genuinely enjoys a lakeside wander without crowds, this is genuinely worth stopping for.

Timing-wise, allow an hour for the full walk, longer if you're the contemplative type. It's free to visit, which doesn't hurt. The area works well as a stop between the caravan parks nearby - Broadlands Farm is just 1.4 miles away, making this an easy morning or evening activity. Spring and autumn are best, when the woodland colours are proper good and you're not baking in the sun.
