Newborough Beach
About Newborough Beach
It's the sort of place walkers genuinely enjoy, and families with older kids won't get bored - there's space to kick a ball around without feeling hemmed in. Younger children might find the walk from the car park a bit much, depending on where you park. The beach works best at low tide when you get proper sand to work with; at high tide it's more shingle and less appealing.
Getting there from Benllech takes about twenty minutes by car. There's a car park at Newborough itself, though it fills on summer weekends. The village has a few local shops and cafes, nothing fancy. Free to access, obviously - it's a beach.
If you're staying at Anglesey Sea Breeze Park nearby, this makes an easy afternoon sortie. The dunes and beach walk combine well with exploring the quieter side of the island rather than fighting the crowds at the more famous spots. Bring proper wind-resistant layers; Anglesey's coast catches everything coming off the Irish Sea.
