Nelson's Statue

Standing proud on a hillside near Pentraeth, this granite memorial to Admiral Nelson catches you off guard with its remote location. The statue itself is fairly modest - not the towering monument you might expect - but it's the setting that makes it worth the short walk from the roadside. You'll get decent views across the Anglesey countryside, though don't expect anything spectacular.

History buffs will appreciate the naval connection, though the story behind why Nelson ended up commemorated here is a bit obscure. The statue was erected by a local landowner who apparently admired the Admiral, but it feels oddly placed so far from any naval significance.
