Mynydd y Graig

The walk up Mynydd y Graig is straightforward enough, starting from the lanes around Pwllheli and climbing steadily through fields until you reach the summit. It's not a massive peak - you're looking at perhaps 45 minutes up from the nearest proper parking, depending on your route - but the views across the Llŷn Peninsula justify the effort. On a clear day you can see out towards Aberdaron and the coastline that makes this part of Wales so worth visiting.

This is proper hiking territory rather than a stroll, though nothing technical. Wear decent boots because it can get boggy underfoot, especially after rain. The peak itself is quiet - you won't find crowds or any facilities up top, so bring water and check the weather before you head out.

Families with older kids and reasonable fitness will manage fine. Younger children might find it a slog, and it's the sort of walk where there's not much to keep them entertained once they get bored. For serious walkers, this works brilliantly as part of a longer route exploring the Llŷn ridgeline.

Stay nearby at Treheli Farm - just a mile away - and you've got an ideal base for tackling this and other local walks. The peak itself is free to access and open year-round, though winter weather can make the paths tricky. Go on a bright morning when visibility is good; there's nothing to see if you're wrapped in cloud.
