Mynydd Llansadwrn

A proper hill walk rather than a mountain expedition, Mynydd Llansadwrn rises above the Towy Valley near Llangadog with enough elevation to feel like achievement without requiring specialist kit. The views from the top sweep across Carmarthenshire's rolling farmland and back towards the Brecon Beacons - on a clear day you can see for miles. It's the sort of walk that rewards you for the effort without being brutal about it.

The terrain is mixed moorland and grassy slopes, so it works well for families with older kids and reasonably fit adults. You're looking at roughly two to three hours for a decent loop, depending on which route you take from the village. There's no formal visitor centre or facilities on the peak itself - it's completely free and entirely self-sufficient, which means bringing your own water and snacks.

Walkers will appreciate this far more than casual strollers. The views are genuinely good, but the walk itself is the point - steady climbs, proper footpaths, the kind of thing that leaves you properly tired and satisfied. Skip it if you're after a quick 20-minute viewpoint stop.

For caravan holidays in the area, you're well-placed. Abermarlais and Barons Court are both within striking distance, and Glynmarch Farm makes a decent base if you want something lower-key. Combine this with exploring the Towy Valley trails - there's plenty of walking country around here without needing to drive far between spots.
