Mynydd Drumau

The walk up Mynydd Drumau is a proper little earner if you're staying around Swansea and fancy something that won't eat up your whole afternoon. It's not a massive peak - we're talking a modest hill that rewards you with views across the valley rather than anything dramatic. The climb itself is straightforward enough, nothing that'll leave you gasping, and once you're up there you get a real sense of how the landscape spreads out around you.

This one's best suited to walkers after a quick leg-stretcher rather than serious hikers chasing summit bragging rights. Families with reasonably fit kids will manage it fine, though younger ones might find the initial push a bit tedious. The real appeal is honestly the walk itself - pleasant enough terrain, and you're never far from Swansea if you need civilization again.

If you're based at one of the holiday parks nearby - SWDA Riverside or Riverside Holiday Park are both close - Mynydd Drumau works well as a morning outing before lunch. Swansea Marina Tourer Park is a bit further out but still within reach for a half-day venture. No fees that I'm aware of, and there's no faffing about with opening times since it's just a hill. Go when the weather's clear enough to make those views worthwhile; a damp Welsh day up here won't show you much. Allow a couple of hours including breaks.
