Graig Ola

The walk up Graig Ola rewards you with proper views across Swansea and the bay - nothing dramatic, but solid enough to justify the climb. It's a straightforward peak that takes maybe 45 minutes from the base if you're moving at a reasonable pace, longer if you stop to look around.

This is walker territory, really. The sort of place families with capable legs might enjoy, though younger children could find the final push a bit much. The views from the top sweep across the city and out towards the water, and on a clear day you get a decent sense of how Swansea sits in the landscape. It's not a technical climb, just consistent uphill work.

Free to access, naturally - it's a hill. The nearest parking is nowhere near as convenient as you'd hope, so factor in a walk to even reach the start. Going early in the day, before it gets busy, makes sense if that's your style.

If you're based at one of the caravan parks near Swansea - SWDA Riverside or Riverside Holiday Park are both within easy reach - Graig Ola works as a half-day outing. It's not the sort of thing you'd plan a trip around, but it fills time nicely alongside a day in Swansea itself. The climb takes an hour or so return with a bit of time at the top, leaving you plenty of daylight for something else after.
