Mynydd Bodran

Walk up Mynydd Bodran and you're rewarded with proper views across the Conwy Valley - clear day stuff, where you can pick out the coast and the distant mountains. It's a modest hill walk rather than a slog, taking most people around an hour or so to the summit depending on fitness and which route you take from Abergele.

The peak itself sits at 315 metres, which means it's steep enough to feel like you've earned it but not so punishing that families with older kids will struggle. The landscape around here is classic North Wales moorland - rolling, open, with bracken and grass underfoot. Views south towards Snowdonia are the real draw on a decent day.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's not a tourist attraction with facilities or a visitor centre, just a straightforward hillwalk with decent panoramas at the top. There's no admission charge because there's nowhere to pay - you simply park nearby and go. Allow a couple of hours if you're not rushing and want to sit around at the summit properly.

Staying at one of the caravan parks scattered around Abergele - Plas Farm is closest at just over three miles away - this makes a solid half-day activity. It breaks up a park holiday nicely without demanding a full day commitment. Weather matters here though. Grey, damp Welsh weather will completely kill the views, so pick your moment. Worth doing if conditions are right.
