It's a straightforward coastal viewpoint that gives you the kind of view across the Yorkshire coast that makes the drive worthwhile - chalky white cliffs dropping away to the North Sea, and on a clear day you can see for miles along the shoreline.

This isn't a manicured visitor attraction with a café and gift shop. It's a working landscape where you park up, walk to the cliff edge, and take it in. The walk itself is easy enough - nothing steep or technical - which makes it ideal for families who've got younger legs to wrangle, though frankly anyone staying at one of the caravan parks nearby - The Old Mill is closest at under two miles - will find it a decent leg-stretch without eating up half the day.

The real draw here is the geology and the sheer scale of the cliffs themselves. Stand at the edge and you genuinely feel small. Photographers will have a field day, especially if you time it right around sunrise or when the light's warm in the afternoon. Weather matters though - on a grey, drizzly day (and let's be honest, this is Yorkshire), the romance fades a bit.

Plan on thirty minutes to an hour maximum, depending on how many photos you want to take. It's free and accessible year-round, though winter gales mean you'll want proper footwear.
