Moel Rhiwlug

The walk up Moel Rhiwlug rewards you with views across Conwy that genuinely take your breath away. From the summit at roughly 600 metres, you're looking out over the Conwy Valley with the mountains beyond - it's one of those spots where the effort feels immediately justified.

This isn't a technical climb by any stretch. The route from Betws-y-Coed is straightforward enough, following decent tracks for most of the ascent, though the final push gets a bit steeper. Allow three to four hours for the round trip if you're not particularly fast, and wear proper walking boots because the ground can be boggy higher up, especially after rain. It's honestly brilliant for walkers after something achievable without needing rock-climbing experience or specialist kit.

Families with confident young walkers will manage fine, though toddlers and the very reluctant will find it a grind. The weather matters enormously here - a clear day is magic, but cloud rolling in swallows the view entirely, so pick your moment if you can.
