The walk up Moel Llansawel rewards you with proper views across Swansea and the bay - the kind of panorama that makes the climb feel justified. It's a modest peak by Welsh standards, but that's precisely why it works: steep enough to feel like an achievement, short enough that you won't be knackered by midday.

From the summit you get the sweep of Swansea Bay laid out below, with the Gower Peninsula visible on clear days. The path itself is well-trodden and straightforward, making it accessible for families with older kids or anyone after a decent morning's walk without committing to a full-day expedition. Allow two to three hours return.

It's the sort of place that rewards you for getting up early. Go mid-week if you can; weekends pull in the Swansea crowd. The ground can be boggy after rain, so decent boots matter.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - SWDA Riverside is your best bet at 5.2 miles away - this makes a brilliant morning or afternoon outing. Swansea Marina Tourer Park is also solid if you want to be right by the water. Neither will eat a full day, which means you've got time to explore Swansea's waterfront or head toward the Gower afterward. Solo walkers will love it; families might find it a touch underwhelming if the weather isn't cooperating.
