Manorowen Hill

The walk up Manorowen Hill takes about forty minutes from Fishguard and rewards you with proper views across the Preseli Mountains and down to the coast. On a clear day you can see right across Cardigan Bay - the sort of panorama that makes you understand why people bothered building Iron Age forts up here. There's nothing fancy at the summit itself, just moorland and the satisfaction of having climbed something real.

It's a solid walker's outing rather than a casual stroll. The path is steep in places and the final push requires decent boots, especially after rain when it gets boggy. You're looking at two hours if you take your time and stop for the views. Families with young kids might find it punishing, but teenagers who don't mind a bit of effort will get something from the effort.

The best approach is from the car park near Manorowen village itself - saves you the trudge through Fishguard town centre. Go in the afternoon if you want clearer light for photographs, though morning is quieter if you prefer fewer people on the hill. Free to access, obviously - it's open moorland.

If you're staying at Tregroes Caravan Camping & Glamping Park or Fishguard Holiday Park, this fits nicely into a day combining coastal walks lower down. Pair it with a proper walk through the Preseli range if you've got the legs for it, or drop down to Goodwick beach afterwards for a cooler off. The whole area rewards a few days of poking about rather than a quick hit.
