Ludlow Museum sits in a quiet corner of Norfolk, just outside Bylaugh, and it's one of those places that rewards curiosity rather than crowds. The collection focuses on local history and archaeology - the sort of intimate museum where you actually read the labels because there aren't forty rooms of identical Victorian pottery to numb your brain.

You'll find everything from Roman artefacts to agricultural implements, with some genuinely absorbing displays about how people lived and worked in this part of Norfolk over the centuries. It's not flashy. There's no interactive this-or-that, no gift shop selling branded pencils. Just objects, context, and space to actually think about what you're looking at.

Families with older kids (say, ten upwards) will get something from it if they're the type who ask proper questions. Younger children might manage twenty minutes before getting restless. History enthusiasts will spend a good hour or more, particularly if there are temporary exhibitions on. Most visitors allow between 45 minutes and 90 minutes.

It works perfectly as a half-day stop during a broader Norfolk holiday. You could easily combine it with a walk around Bylaugh itself, then head to one of the nearby parks - Bylaugh Country Park Caravan and Campsite is only 2.6 miles away and highly rated, or you've got Moat Island Glamping and Ashcroft Glamping within striking distance if you're after something with a bit more glamour.

Go midweek if you can. Quieter, and you can actually chat to the volunteers running the place.
