About Low Hill
The climb itself takes about an hour from the base, depending on your pace and which route you fancy. There's genuine woodland for stretches, which keeps things interesting, and once you're up there the perspective on the Eden Valley shifts completely. You realise how much landscape you've covered from the valley floor.
Families with children who've done a bit of walking will manage it fine. The gradient isn't brutal, though your legs will know you've done it. It's the sort of walk that feels like proper achievement without demanding mountaineering skills or hours of your day. Staying at Englethwaite Hall or Eden Valley Glamping means you're within striking distance for an afternoon outing, which is exactly what this is - a solid three or four hours including getting lost briefly, which you probably will.
Go on a clear morning if you can. The valley mist can linger and rather defeats the object of coming up here for the views. Worth fitting in alongside other Eden Valley walks, but don't expect to spend the whole day on Low Hill itself.
