Lochan Anama

The water at Lochan Anama sits so still you can see the surrounding hills reflected perfectly - unless the wind picks up, which it does often in Argyll. There's no visitor infrastructure to speak of, which is rather the point. You'll find a basic parking area and a straightforward path down to the water's edge. The walk takes maybe ten minutes, nothing strenuous. Once there, you get decent views across the loch to the surrounding countryside - proper Argyll landscape with low hills and proper woodland. It's the kind of spot where you can actually hear yourself think.

This works best for walkers and photographers, particularly those after reflective shots in calmer weather. Families with younger kids might find it a bit underwhelming - there's no beach, no facilities, no play areas. You're really just coming to stand by the water and absorb the quiet. That's genuinely all it offers, and honestly, that's enough.

Take it as a low-key break between more substantial park-based activities. Both The Pod Over By and Fyne Glamping sit within easy reach, each about a 20-minute drive, making this a nice afternoon addition to a holiday in the area. Go early morning for the best light and fewest other visitors. Allow 45 minutes total if you're keeping it casual.
