Loch Leven Leisure Centre

The leisure centre sits right on the edge of Kinross, a proper working facility that doesn't pretend to be anything fancy. You've got a swimming pool, gym, and sports halls - the kind of place locals actually use rather than tourists tend to flock to. That said, if you're based at Gallowhill Caravan Park just down the road, it's worth knowing about, especially if the Scottish weather turns and you need to burn off some energy indoors.

The pool is the main draw. It's decent-sized, has a shallow end for younger kids, and on quiet weekday mornings it's a pleasant swim rather than a cattle market. The gym facilities are solid if you're the type to want a workout during a park holiday - and there are classes on throughout the week if you fancy something structured. The sports halls host badminton, basketball, and other activities depending on the day.

Who gets the most from it? Families with young children who need a reliable wet-weather option, and anyone keen to maintain some exercise routine whilst away. It's not a destination in itself - you wouldn't drive to Perthshire specifically for this - but as part of a week at one of the nearby caravan parks, it's genuinely useful. Maycroft Retreat is far enough away that you'd probably stick with Gallowhill if you're thinking of popping in regularly.

Admission is charged on a per-activity basis - swimming, gym sessions, class bookings - so budget accordingly. Allow two to three hours if you're doing a swim and a browse of the gym. It's a functional place. That's not criticism.
