The Bing

The Bing sits just outside Kinross and delivers exactly what you'd expect from a modest Fife peak - a straightforward walk with views that justify the effort without being remotely dramatic. The summit itself is unremarkable, honestly. What matters is the walk up, which takes roughly forty-five minutes from the car park and passes through decent woodland before opening out onto moorland with proper sightlines across central Scotland.

This is walker territory, pure and simple. Families with younger kids might find it a touch dull unless they're already keen on hills - there's no summit building or cairn to make it feel like a proper destination, just grass and sky. But for anyone staying at Gallowhill Caravan & Camping Park or Meadow View Glamping a few miles away, it's a solid morning out that doesn't demand serious fitness or kit. The approach is well-trodden and straightforward.

Timing matters here. Early morning keeps you ahead of any midweek traffic, and the light across the valleys is genuinely lovely when you're not squinting into cloud. Bring waterproofs regardless of the forecast - this is Fife, after all. The walk's free, naturally, and you can be back at the car park by lunchtime. Worth doing once if you're in the area, though it won't stay with you like the bigger peaks elsewhere in Tayside. Best viewed as part of a broader walking tour rather than a solo destination.
