Llys Dymper

The walk up Llys Dymper is a proper work for your legs, but the views across Conwy Valley make every step worth it. This isn't a high mountain - nowhere near Snowdon's drama - but it's steep enough that you'll feel like you've earned something by the time you reach the summit.

From the top, you can see right across the valley towards Betws-y-Coed, with the Conwy River snaking through below. On a clear day (and you'll need one) the visibility stretches far enough to make the huff and puff worthwhile. The peak itself is nothing fancy - a patch of open moorland with a few rocks marking the highest point - but that's rather the point.

This is genuinely one for keen walkers rather than casual strollers. You're looking at a solid two to three hours round trip depending on your fitness and which route you take from the valley. Local knowledge helps - there's no obvious path once you're partway up, so map reading or a decent guidebook is essential.

If you're staying at Snowdonia Glamping Holidays or Porth Eryri Glamping, both just five miles or so from Betws-y-Coed, Llys Dymper works brilliantly as a half-day excursion. Park near the village and give yourself a morning of proper walking without the crowds you'd face on the bigger peaks. Wear decent boots - the ground gets boggy - and check the weather forecast. A cloudy day here is genuinely pointless.
