Llwytmor

Climbing up from Llanfairfechan, the path to this 849-metre summit isn't particularly well-marked, which actually adds to its appeal. You won't find hordes of weekend walkers here like you do on nearby Snowdon - Llwytmor remains properly off the beaten track.

The ascent takes most people around two hours, winding through typical Welsh moorland that can be boggy after rain. Experienced hikers will appreciate the solitude, though it's definitely not one for beginners or families with young children. The terrain demands proper boots and decent navigation skills.

From the top, you get cracking views across the Conwy Valley and out towards Anglesey on clear days. It's the sort of peak that rewards effort with genuine wilderness feeling, even though you're only a few miles from the coast.

Walkers staying at nearby sites like Ogwen Bank Caravan Park or Cefn Cae Campsite will find this makes a proper day out, especially when combined with exploring Llanfairfechan's Victorian seafront afterwards. The peak works well as part of a longer Welsh mountains holiday, though don't expect facilities or signposting - you're very much on your own up here. Pack plenty of water and check the weather forecast before setting off.
