Lippersley Pike

The walk up Lippersley Pike delivers proper views across the Harrogate area without demanding a full day's commitment. It's a straightforward climb - nothing technical, just a steady push uphill through moorland that opens up nicely as you gain height. The summit itself sits at around 1,100 feet and rewards you with a panorama that stretches across North Yorkshire's rolling countryside. On a clear day you can pick out distant fells; on a grey one, it's moody and atmospheric in equal measure.

This isn't a destination for serious peak-baggers or those after dramatic rock formations. What you get instead is a proper fell walk that locals have been doing for decades - the kind of place where you'll see more sheep than tourists. The terrain underfoot is moorland grass and the odd bit of rocky scree. Allow yourself a comfortable hour and a half from the road to summit and back, though you can stretch it into a longer loop if you fancy exploring the surrounding hills.
