Lingber Hill

There's a proper viewpoint up here - the kind where you actually stop and look rather than just snap a photo for social media. Lingber Hill isn't marked on every map, which means the summit stays reasonably quiet even when the weather's decent. The walk up is straightforward enough, moorland underfoot, nothing technical, and the view across Lancashire opens up as you climb. You get the Pennines rolling away to the east, towns dotting the valleys below, and on a clear day it's genuinely worth the effort. Walkers will get the most from this one. The walk itself is the point - there's no café or facilities waiting at the top, just space to breathe and a proper sense of having earned your vista. Allow a couple of hours for the round trip depending on fitness and how long you fancy stopping about. The hill's free to access since it's moorland, though you'll likely park nearby and pay for a car park if there's one. Winter can make it windswept and boggy, so spring through early autumn is the sensible window. It fits well into a walking tour of the Pennine edges if you're based in the area - there's plenty of similar terrain nearby for those keen on ridge walks and open moorland. Not a destination on its own, but a cracking addition to a Lancashire walking holiday.
