Law Hill and Community Woodland

The walk up Law Hill is steep, unrelenting, and absolutely worth the effort. This woodland reserve sits above Dollar like a proper secret - the kind of place locals know but tourists often miss entirely. Once you've climbed through the trees, the view opens up across Clackmannanshire, and on a clear day you can see the Forth estuary spreading out below you like a map someone's laid flat on the ground.

It's woodland walking rather than a manicured nature reserve. The paths are good enough, though muddy in patches, and the whole thing takes about an hour if you're not stopping for breath every thirty seconds like I was. The community aspect means it's well-maintained by volunteers who actually seem to care - that shows. You'll spot native trees, maybe some birdlife if you're quiet, and plenty of reasons to slow down and just stand still for a bit.

Walkers and history types will get the most from it. Families with older kids fine; younger ones might find the climb tedious. There's no visitor centre or facilities, so bring water and decent boots. Free to visit, as these things should be.
