Laggan Hill

The walk up Laggan Hill won't take you long, which is either its greatest strength or its biggest limitation depending on what you're after. Starting from near Crieff, you're looking at maybe two hours return for a proper hill bag without any messing about. The summit gives you proper views across Perthshire - nothing dramatic, but on a clear day you can see why locals bother with it.

It's the sort of hill that works brilliantly if you're staying at one of the caravan parks dotted round Comrie way (Braidhaugh is closest at just over a mile) and fancy something to do that doesn't demand a full day's commitment. Families with older kids will manage it fine. Younger ones might grumble a bit if they're not keen walkers, and the reward at the top won't blow anyone's mind enough to make them forget the climb.

There's no visitor centre, no facilities, no café - it's a straightforward hill walk, and that's what you get. Go early in the day if you can, especially weekends, or pick a quieter weekday. Spring and autumn work well here; summer can get a bit busy with locals. It's worth doing as part of a wider Perthshire ramble rather than a destination in itself. Pair it with exploring Crieff proper or heading towards the Trossachs for a proper day out. Free to walk, naturally.
