Kingsgate Bay

The beach at Kingsgate Bay reveals itself gradually as you descend from the clifftop promenade above Birchington - first just a strip of sand, then wider as the slope flattens out. It's a proper seaside affair: shingle mixed with sand, chalk cliffs towering behind, and that particular Kent coast light that makes everything look a bit sharper than it should.

What you get here is straightforward beach time. Paddling in summer, rock pooling when the tide's right, long walks along the shoreline.
