Ipswich Martyrs

In 1555, two men were burned at the stake in Ipswich for refusing to recant their Protestant faith. John Noyes and Eleazar Crestman were among the victims of Mary I's brutal crackdown, and their memory is preserved at what's now a modest but moving memorial site in the town centre.
