Huglith Hill

From the summit of this modest Shropshire hill, the view stretches across the Severn Valley towards Shrewsbury's ancient spires. Huglith Hill won't trouble serious fell walkers - it's more of a gentle ramble than a challenging climb - but that's precisely its appeal for families with young children or anyone wanting a proper country walk without the knee-jarring descent.

The footpaths up are well-maintained and clearly marked, making this a safe bet for a morning constitutional. You'll be rewarded with genuinely lovely panoramas of the surrounding farmland, though don't expect alpine drama.
