Holy Trinity Church Galmpton

The churchyard at Holy Trinity in Galmpton is one of those places you stumble upon by accident and find yourself lingering far longer than planned. It's a proper working parish church, sat just outside Kingsbridge, with medieval bones and that particular Devon quietness that makes you forget the main road exists at all.

Inside, there's genuine history - the sort you can feel rather than just read about. The church itself rewards a slow wander, and the graveyard, ringed by ancient yews, is genuinely atmospheric without being maudlin. It's the kind of spot that appeals to anyone who likes architecture, local history, or simply somewhere to sit and think for twenty minutes without the world intruding.

It sits brilliantly within reach of the excellent camping options nearby - Karrageen is less than a mile away and gets consistently top marks. South Devon Camping at Lower Terawhiti Farm is barely further. After a morning at Galmpton, you could easily explore Kingsbridge itself, which has genuine charm without being over-touristy. The church works as a quiet anchor point if you're doing a broader tour of South Devon's lesser-known spots.
