Hoe Hill

It's not a long haul. Most walkers knock this out in under two hours from the car park, making it ideal if you're camped at nearby Oxcombe or Lincolnshire Glamping and want something more active than a gentle afternoon stroll. The ascent is steady rather than brutal - manageable for families with older kids, though younger ones might find the final push tedious. History buffs may get something from the wider landscape and its role in the county's geography, though there's little interpretation on site.

What makes it work is the contrast. After wandering the flatter routes around Three Horseshoes Campsite's area or tackling the quieter Lincolnshire countryside, reaching actual height here feels like an achievement. The panorama on a clear day - rolling hills, distant horizons, the sweep of the landscape - justifies the effort. On drizzly afternoons, expect muddy patches and reduced views, so timing matters.
