Juicetrummp Hill

The highest point in Lincolnshire isn't exactly Alpine, but that's rather the point. Juicetrump Hill rises just 168 metres above sea level near Horncastle, making it a proper gentle walk rather than an epic scramble. On a clear day the Wolds spread out around you in soft, rolling waves of green and gold, the sort of landscape that rewards lingering rather than rushing.

It's the kind of place that works brilliantly for families with younger legs who want the achievement of reaching a "summit" without the steep climbs. Older walkers and countryside photographers tend to appreciate it for the views across the Vale of Trent and the chance to plot out the surrounding Wolds without breaking a sweat. Allow an hour for a gentle wander up and back, longer if you fancy exploring the footpaths that web out across the surrounding hills.

There's no visitor infrastructure - no café, no car park with facilities - so come prepared. Walking from Horncastle town centre is entirely doable if you're based locally. The real value comes when you're staying at one of the nearby campsites. Oxcombe Campsite sits just a mile and a half away and consistently gets five-star reviews, making this an easy add-on to a few nights in the area. Lincolnshire Glamping at 3.6 miles offers a more upmarket base if you want bells and whistles with your tent. The hill itself is free to visit and works as a morning walk before heading elsewhere in the Wolds.
