The moment you walk into Hibaldstow Skydiving Centre, you know you're about to do something properly mad. This is tandem skydiving territory - strapped to an instructor, plummeting from 10,000 feet over the Lincolnshire flatlands. It's not subtle, and it's not for the faint-hearted.

First-timers get a ground briefing that covers the essentials without terrifying you completely, then you're in the aircraft watching the landscape shrink beneath you. The freefall itself lasts around 60 seconds - long enough to forget you're utterly terrified and start grinning like an idiot. Then the parachute opens and suddenly you're floating, dangling over the East Midlands countryside with nothing but air between you and Lincolnshire.

This isn't an attraction for kids or anyone with a genuine fear of heights. Seriously. But if you're the type who gets bored on a normal holiday and craves actual adrenaline, it's exceptional value for money and the nearest properly equipped centre to Market Rasen. Most jumps take around three to four hours start to finish.
