The building itself is nothing fancy - Victorian red brick, nothing that screams 'visit me' - but the interior is well organised and surprisingly good for a small-town library. You'll find the usual mix of paperbacks, reference sections, and a decent children's corner if you've got little ones in tow.

It's not a destination in itself, but if you're based at Springhouse Boutique Holiday Park just outside town - a solid spot for a Northumberland break - then popping in here makes sense on a drizzly morning or when you need a break from the cold. The staff are helpful without being intrusive, and there's enough quiet corners to genuinely relax. Admission is free, naturally.
