Heage Windmill

The views from the top make it worthwhile, honestly. What really catches you is how peaceful it is up there, just the wind and the occasional creak of timber.

It's a straightforward spot - not overly fussed about opening hours or much in the way of visitor facilities. Go when the light's decent rather than first thing on a grey morning. Families with teenagers will get more from it than younger kids, and history types will absolutely love the engineering side of things.
