The church sits alone in Hauxwell village, a proper end-of-the-world sort of place near Leyburn where time moves differently. St Oswald's is a modest medieval structure, nothing showy, but that's exactly why it works - you get the sense of walking into somewhere that's mattered to locals for centuries rather than a tourist spectacle.
