Harry Hest Hole

You'll find Harry Hest Hole tucked into the limestone hills near Carnforth, and it's one of those caves that rewards a bit of effort. The entrance is modest - easy to walk straight past if you're not paying attention - but once you're inside, the passage opens up nicely with natural daylight filtering through from above. It's a proper underground experience without needing ropes or helmets, just comfortable walking through.

The cave itself is relatively short, so don't expect hours of exploration. Most people spend 20 minutes to half an hour down there, depending on how many photos you take and whether you poke around the side passages. Kids generally find it interesting enough, though younger ones might need a hand navigating the uneven floor.
