Hardown Hill

Standing at 183 metres above sea level, this unassuming summit offers proper views across the Marshwood Vale and out to Lyme Bay on clear days. The walk up from the surrounding farmland near Bridport takes about 45 minutes of steady climbing through fields and along ancient bridleways that can get muddy after rain.

Walkers and geography enthusiasts will appreciate the 360-degree panorama from the top, though it's not dramatically different from neighbouring Golden Cap. Families with older children who don't mind a moderate hill walk will find it rewarding, but toddlers might struggle with the uneven terrain and stiles.

The summit itself is marked by an Ordnance Survey trig point and feels wonderfully remote despite being relatively close to the coast. There's no visitor centre or facilities - just open countryside and big skies. Allow two to three hours for a leisurely round trip from the nearest parking spots along the minor roads.
