There's nothing flashy about it - no visitor centre, no café, no themed trails with corporate sponsorship. What you get instead is proper countryside: open fields where you can actually hear the birds, patches of woodland that feel genuinely wild, and the kind of peace that's increasingly rare in England.

Walkers will find it worth the trip, especially if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks like Cliff Top or Sea View Country Park - it's close enough for a half-day outing without feeling like a pilgrimage. The terrain is manageable for families with older kids; younger ones might lose interest after an hour unless they're the type to entertain themselves building dens and spotting insects.
