About Grandspan
The walk itself is the draw here. You get proper views down the estuary on one side and back towards the city on the other. On a clear day you can see across the bay properly. The span is wide enough that you don't feel squeezed in, and there's something rather pleasing about being suspended above the water like that - the kind of moment where you actually notice you're moving through a landscape rather than just being in one.
It's free, obviously, and you can cross it whenever. There's no faffing about with opening hours or tickets. Twenty minutes is plenty if you're just doing the crossing, but if you're staying at SWDA Riverside or Riverside Holiday Park just up the coast, it makes a lovely addition to a day exploring Swansea. Families will find it easy enough, though there's not much to stop and do once you're on it - it's a corridor, really, not a destination. That said, as a piece of engineering that actually works as a pleasant walk, it does the job well. Worth the detour if you're in the area.
