Foxcote Hill

The walk up Foxcote Hill rewards you with proper views across the Cotswolds - nothing dramatic, but on a clear day you can see for miles across rolling farmland and distant ridges. It's a straightforward pull from Cheltenham, steep enough to earn your legs a rest at the top but not a full slog. The summit itself is bare, windswept ground with a few trees for shelter if you need it.

This is walkers' territory, really. If you're after a quick leg-stretcher with some genuine height gain and decent vistas, it delivers. Kids will find it manageable as a family walk - an hour or so round trip depending on your pace - though there's nothing to do once you're up there except enjoy the view and maybe eat a sandwich. Don't expect a cafe or facilities. The ground can be muddy after rain, so proper boots matter.

It sits well with a Cotswolds caravan holiday, especially if you're based near Cheltenham at one of the caravan club sites or the various glamping spots dotted around - Big Skies and Coxhorne are both within a couple of miles. The peak works as a morning walk before heading down to Bourton-on-the-Water or back to town for lunch. Not a destination in itself, but a proper addition to a walking week in the area.
