The football ground museum near Morecambe is a proper labour of love for anyone obsessed with the beautiful game's history. You're walking around the stands and corridors of an actual working stadium, seeing kit from decades gone by, memorabilia from the club's best seasons, and the sort of stuff that makes fans go misty-eyed - old match programmes, photographs of legendary strikers, the lot.

It's not a vast museum, so don't expect to lose three hours here. Two visits I've done, I've covered the whole thing in about ninety minutes at a leisurely pace. The appeal really depends on your football knowledge and whether you've got a connection to the club itself. Kids might find it interesting if they're already into football, but younger children could get restless pretty quickly.

What makes it worthwhile is the authenticity - you're actually inside the stadium, walking the same routes the players do. On a match day, the energy changes everything, but the museum is accessible regardless.

If you're staying at Parkdean Resorts Ocean Edge or Bay View Holiday Park, it's just down the road and works as a decent rainy-day option. Crook O'Lune Holiday Park is slightly further out. Pair it with a wander around Morecambe itself - the seafront's pleasant enough, though it's seen better days. The museum is best suited to adult football enthusiasts and committed fans rather than a family day out, unless your lot are already football mad.
