Fish Hill Picnic Place

The views from Fish Hill justify the short drive out of Broadway alone. You're looking across the Vale of Evesham from a proper vantage point - the kind of panorama that makes you understand why the Cotswolds pull people in year after year. It's a straightforward picnic spot, nothing fancy: you park up, grab a bench or spread a blanket on the grass, and that's your afternoon sorted.

On a decent day, families get good mileage out of this. Kids can run about without much to worry them, and you've got space to actually spread out your sandwiches without someone's flask ending up in your lap. The walk from car to the best spots is minimal, which matters if you're dragging reluctant teenagers or toddlers along. Fair warning though - it gets busy in summer weekends, and the car park fills fast.

Timing-wise, aim for late morning if you want a decent spot. Bring a jumper even when it looks warm; the hilltop catches wind that doesn't reach the town below. There's no café or facilities that I could find, so come prepared with everything you need.

If you're based at Broadway Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or one of the other parks nearby, this works as a solid half-day outing. It doesn't demand hours of your time, which is exactly the point. Sometimes a view, a decent sandwich, and twenty minutes of doing nothing is all you're after. Fish Hill delivers that without pretence.
