Falmouth Marina

The waterfront at Falmouth is where things actually happen. Yachts bob against the pontoons, fishing boats unload their catch, and the whole place has that proper working marina atmosphere rather than the sanitised leisure park version you sometimes get. You can wander the quays for free, watch the boats come and go, grab a coffee at one of the cafes overlooking the water, and if you're feeling flush, book a sailing lesson or harbour cruise. The walk along the marina takes maybe an hour if you're dawdling, longer if you stop for lunch at one of the restaurants scattered about. It's best visited mid-morning before the lunch crowds arrive, and low season means you'll actually hear the water lapping against the hulls instead of fighting through tourists. Families with older kids who won't get restless on a waterfront walk will enjoy it; younger ones might find it a bit static unless there's a boat festival on. From your caravan at Trethem Mill Touring Park, it's less than half an hour's drive to Falmouth, making it an easy morning out. The nearby parks at Carnon Downs and Little Menherion are similarly well-placed if you want waterfront access without staying right on the coast. Falmouth itself is just south of Truro, so you can string together a proper day - marina walk, lunch, and explore the working town inland if the weather turns.
