Walking into Ewepot feels like stepping into someone's secret woodland - the kind of place locals know but tourists stumble upon by accident. It's a proper forest tucked away near Leyburn, with enough trees and open glades to lose yourself for a good hour or two without bumping into crowds.

What you're looking at is genuine Yorkshire woodland - a mix of mature trees and younger growth that's constantly changing depending on the season. Spring brings absolute chaos of green, autumn is all russets and golds, and even winter's worth a go if you fancy bare branches and dramatic light. There are paths winding through, though don't expect them to be particularly well-signposted or manicured. This is working woodland, not some sanitised nature trail.

Walkers will get the most from it - bring proper boots because the ground gets boggy in patches. The forest itself doesn't take hours to cover, so it pairs well with a wider day in the Dales rather than standing alone as a full afternoon's activity. Kids might enjoy it if they're the exploring type, though there's no playground or visitor facilities to speak of.

There's no charge that we're aware of, and no official opening hours to worry about. If you're staying at Eastfield Glamping Farm just down the road, this is genuinely convenient - walkable from there without needing the car.
